Launch the game and create a new world. To move, use the W A S D keys. Move your mouse to look around. E will open your inventory where you can click to move items around. Space bar is jump and shift will cause you to crouch. When you are crouching, you cannot fall off the edge of a block.
Escape pauses the game and brings you the menu where you can change settings and check or change the controls.
Left click is the attack and destory option. Left clicking on a block will cause you to mine it. Most blocks do not respond to gravity but be careful because a few do!
Right click will cause you to place a block or use an item, or will cause you to interact with an item.
To craft, open up your inventory and utilize the 2x2 grid at the top. Here’s a common example. You left click on a tree log to punch it. It will drop it. Whenever you go near a dropped block you will automatically pick it up. Now by putting the log into the crafting slot you can make 4 planks. Fill the crafting slot full of planks and you can make a crafting table. Place the crafting table in the world and then right click on it to access a 3x3 crafting slot.
The hotbar at the bottom of the screen allows you to access 9 items. All other items will be stored in your inventory. 1 selects the first item, 2 selects the second, and so on. The hearts above this indicate your health. If it drops to 0 you die and all the items in your inventory and hotbar are dropped on to the ground. You then have 5 minutes to recover those items before they dissappear. To the right of your health is your hunger. You need to eat food to keep the bar full. You cannot eat food if your hunger is already full. If your hunger reaches 0 then you will take damage until your hunger bar is full. Below these two is your XP bar. You earn XP from killing mobs, mining, cooking, and smelting. If you go underwater, bubbles will appear above your hunger. When the buubles run out, you will start taking damage until you get more air.
The chest and the furnace are two most used items in the game. The chest holds items for you and the furnace smelts or cooks items so that they can be used it diffrent ways.
To travel to the Nether, you will need to craft a portal with obsidian which can be found where water hits lava. Light the portal with flint & steel and stand inside until you transport to the Nether. There, you can kill the Blaze. It drops a blaze rod, which you can turn into blaze powder. Then with the ender pearl combine it to make an eye of ender. Right click while holding one and it will fly towards an end portal. If it breaks you can always use a new one. Dig down with indicated and find the stronghold and the portal. Fill the empty spots with the eyes of ender and jump inside to transport to the End.
In the End you will battle the End Dragon. Once you win you can travel back to the overworld and continue to build and explore for fun.
